No, ser Intendente Municipal no es un trabajo, es una carga pública, una responsabilidad, un honor. El sueldo que perciben no es por lo que hacen sino por lo que no hacen, por lo que dejan de hacer, porque quien asume al frente del Departamento Ejecutivo deja (o debería dejar) sus labores anteriores para dedicarse a comandar el Municipio. A tal punto no es un trabajo que no tiene un régimen de inasistencias, si el Intendente se enferma no envía un certificado a RRHH tras validarlo en IDT si no va a estar en el Distrito la Ley Orgánica de Municipalidades exige que pida licencia si se ausenta más de cinco días, y es por ello que cuando no estuvo en días laborales en Zárate y fue de viaje familia no pidió licencia porque el tiempo no excedía.
Un Intendente no tiene vacaciones. Pide licencia cuando quiere tomarse unos días de descanso, no acumula días por el tiempo que lleva de intendente, como tampoco lo acumulan los concejales, aunque inventen recesos ficticios, ni los funcionarios políticos, que se han ido de vacaciones sin siquiera informarlo a la ciudadanía.

Pareciera que el Intendente no tiene en claro cual es rol, y si la sabe (cosa que creemos firmemente) le miente a los vecinos.
Miente el Intendente cuando afirma ‘yo me tomo como días de vacaciones’, los Intendentes no tienen vacaciones, y por ende también miente cuando sostiene que ‘me lo tomo a cuenta de las vacaciones que se van acumulando’. Matzkin miente, y sabe que miente.
Pero además miente el Intendente cuando le dice a los vecinos ‘voy a este evento costeado en un 80% por la organización y en un 20% por mí porque los fondos que me da la organización no completan todo pero son costeados por mí el resto de los días, así que es a cero costo del Municipio.’
El Intendente no tiene vacaciones y en consecuencia no tiene vacaciones pagas, por lo que percibe un dinero por los días que no está de licencia, sin embargo, y aunque pidió licencia aprobada por el Concejo Deliberante, percibió la totalidad de su sueldo de septiembre… aunque el 25% de las semanas ‘se tomó vacaciones’.
El sueldo del Intendente el mes pasado fue de $ 10.531.360,27, entre otras razones porque pese a decir públicamente que ‘A cada aumento tenemos que entender que ya tenemos un sueldo bastante alto y que es por ley, ahora al que le viene, al que le toca ganar por encima de la inflación y no tiene que ganar es el funcionario jerárquico, los concejales, el Intendente y todos los Secretarios.’, su sueldo subió el último mes en igual proporción que el de los empleados municipales… Esto generó, dada la disparidad salarial, que el monto en que se incrementaron los haberes del Intendente hayan sido el 73,7% del total del sueldo de un empleado administrativo clase VI… después del aumento. El sueldo básico del Intendente aumentó, entre agosto y septiembre fue de $ 292.961,44, el sueldo municipal citado fue de $ 397.481,63.
